Hammond-Suzuki XK-3 (2004)

Hammond-Suzuki prosumer-modeled flagship clonewheel — released alongside the XLK-3 lower manual and partnered with the Leslie 2121/2101 rotary speaker system. Often cited as the first third-generation DSP Hammond that triggered the wave of pro-level clonewheel sales in the 2000s.^[raw/articles/wikipedia-clonewheel-organ.md]

Position in the Hammond-Suzuki lineup

Up to 2004 the company had been shipping smaller instruments and modules: XB-1, XB-2 (1991), XB-5 (1993), XB-3 (1994), XC-3 (1995), XK-2 (1999). The XK-3 was the first "real" dual-manual pro instrument aimed at the gigging jazz/blues organist who could not transport a vintage B-3. It was followed by:

  • XK-3c (2008) — refresh.
  • New B-3 / New B-3 mk2 / XH-272 Elegante — larger console models over $10,000.
  • SK1 / SK2 (2011) — smaller stage / home keyboards.
  • XK-1 (2006) — single-manual smaller sibling.^[raw/articles/wikipedia-clonewheel-organ.md]

Aimed to provide an authentic B-3 alternative without the size, weight, and maintenance burden of a vintage tonewheel instrument.
