The Hammond in it
Delvon Lamarr's self-taught B-3 playing — punchy one-chord soul-jazz grooves in the Jimmy Smith/McGriff lineage, played with a streaming-era warmth — made the album a Billboard-charting breakthrough for the modern organ-trio revival documented in The modern organ scene.^[raw/articles/wikipedia-delvon-lamarr-organ-trio.md] The trio at the time featured Jimmy James on guitar; the album's success carried the band from Seattle club act to international touring headliner.^[raw/articles/wikipedia-delvon-lamarr-organ-trio.md]
It is the clearest evidence that the classic organ-trio format still charts in the 2020s.^[raw/articles/colemine-records-about-us.md]
